Unwind Underwater is a window into the beauty of the natural marine world. I capture calm underwater scenes and share them so you can bring the ocean into your life. I invite you to escape into this beautiful world and unwind underwater.
I find a section of reef that's beautiful and alive with fish, set the camera down, and swim away. With no human interference, the camera captures raw ocean life: fish going about their day, feeding, interacting with each other, behaving exactly as they would if nobody was there. Now and then a curious fish swims up to inspect the camera, which is always a nice surprise.
They are for relaxation, enjoyment, inspiration, and whatever you want them to be for. Play one on the TV as a living screensaver when friends are over. Fall asleep to it. Watch while you work. Even your cat might enjoy watching.
The Tuamotus in French Polynesia, remote coral atolls out in the middle of the Pacific. I had the privilege of exploring this region and capturing some of its beauty.
Cabbage Tree Bay in Sydney, a small protected reserve on my doorstep. I love that I can have world class marine interactions just a short walk from where I live.
I was reviewing my footage from a dive in Indonesia and I saw beautiful fish swimming around the coral in amazing colours. I found myself rewatching the clip again and again, because it wasn't long enough. That gave me the idea to set up my GoPro unattended and capture longer videos, which now I share with you.
I want to share the beauty of the natural world with everyone. You can see the remote reefs of French Polynesia from your own living room. I also want people to be inspired by the natural world and take action to help preserve it.
I'm Jack, a wildlife photographer and videographer based in Sydney. I grew up in New Zealand planting trees with my dad, which is where my love for the natural world started. Since then I have had the privilege of sailing and exploring all over the world and experiencing some of the most pristine environments on the planet. Sharing that with you is the point of all this, and if it makes a few more people want to protect the ocean the way I do, even better. When this channel earns enough, a share will go to ocean conservation. Right now it earns almost nothing, so that is a promise, not a fact, and the Ocean Impact page explains exactly where I stand.
When I'm not underwater I photograph wildlife on land too. You can see more of my wildlife photography on Instagram at @wildjacknz.
New videos go up on YouTube weekly. Watch, subscribe, and unwind underwater.
